My son got his license on Thursday. Yesterday, he asked me when he gets to take the MSF class to get a motorcycle license. This morning, he asked when he gets to learn manual on the Sunchaser.
I have created a monster.

Plot Twist, your dog has mind controlled your son and Doggo over there needs the Sunchaser to impress the Lady Doggos.

It may be time to invest in a manual Geo Metro. It would probably be cheaper than replacing the Chaser’s clutch.

Obligatory Work Drugs song for this.

This isn’t Toby.
I’ll accept it anyway.

My response:

I can’t imagine the Sunchaser would be too happy with the abuse of someone learning to drive stick on it.

I highly recommend signing him up for one of SCCA’s Street Survival schools to help me become a safer driver. After that, maybe some autocrosses. If they do the semi truck thing, then he’ll learn real quick what and where blind zones are.

Same in the U.K.

I was started autocross racing with my dad when I was 16. It’s fun burning the tires off your dads car and being encouraged to do so. If I was on a good day I could beat him, usually he beat me by 1-2 seconds a run in the same car.

Those cars are mechanically very solid, but yeah, I wouldn’t be too excited to teach someone on my old car, and it’s nowhere near as nice or interesting as the Sunchaser.

I’m just thinking of 1980s cooling systems, old starters, old transmissions, etc. Newer cars would just be much friendlier to the idea than a Sunchaser.

Here you can get your motorcycle license on a 150cc automatic scooter (like I did), and legally be allowed to ride a Hayubusa.
A standard drivers license is also legal for driving anything up to 25,999 pounds, so long as it has hydraulic brakes.
Because freedom!

A little from column A, a little from column B :)
I had no trouble with the 26' box truck I rented many years ago, but I’m lot dumb enough to run out and buy a liter plus bike.
